Should the Statue of Liberty be taken down if America blocks refugees? #HNNImpact

The U.S. should take down the Statue of Liberty if it ever erects a wall to keep out immigrants and refugees, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Friday in remarks intended to counter some of the recent harsh rhetoric.

One week after the devastating terror attacks in Paris, a new Ipsos poll shows a majority of Canadians disagree with the Liberal government’s plan to resettle 25,000 refugees by the end of the year.

The Ipsos poll, conducted exclusively for Global News, found that 60 per cent of Canadians disagree with Justin Trudeau’s election promise to relocate 25,000 people displaced largely due to the conflict in Syria.

Mom takes her 5yo son's life, then her own in an #Arizona USA hospital #HNNImpact

Embedded image permalink

MESA, Ariz. -- A mother of a patient at a suburban Phoenix children's hospital took her son's life before taking her own, police said Saturday.

Mesa police spokesman Steve Berry said nurses at Cardon Children's Medical Center in Mesa found the woman and her 5-year-old child dead inside the child's room while conducting a 2 a.m. bed check.

"It appears that the mother for unknown reasons took the life of the child and then took her own life there in the room." Berry said, according to CBS affiliate KPHO.

They were later identified as 27-year-old Lola T. Griffith, or "Tammy," and her son Helious Griffith, KPHO reported. Truly sad. Read the link for the full story.

#Biafra Leader Nnamdi Kanu granted bail. May FLEE Nigeria and leave others to face Feds #HNNImpact

Nnamdi Kanu1
Nnamdi Kanu
Director of Radio Biafra and Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, who was arrested at Golden Tulip Essential Hotel, Ikeja, on Saturday, has been granted bail in the sum of N2 million or with surety of N2 million with a civil servant of grade level 16.

However he has not been able to make the bail. His supporters have not reached out to Amnesty International but instead resorting to threats on the Feds and police. This won't work. Kanu has been on some kind of hunger strike as he won't risk eating the food of the feds as he could be poisoned. That has happened many times to political prisoners.

The Biafrans want their independence but seems like the FEDS are not buying it. This has caused online wars between Yorubas and Igbos, two of Nigeria's main tribes. Many feel that he will flee Nigeria on his British passport and everyone will be left to fend for themselves. Basically the same thing Ojukwu did. The saga continues.

@LindaIkeji's message to Young Females in #Nigeria--STOP Sleeping around for MONEY #HNNImpact

To all Nigerians suffering the Linda Ikeji syndrome with her over N450M house, I have been blogging in America and Canada since 1999. One of the Top 10 in America in 2005 feature in Atlanta Woman's magazine and Canada's leading music blogger in 2007-2012 plus also listed among 5 under Nigerian Bloggers on Wikipedia and Global women Bloggers, I have held a blogging seminar online and most Nigerians are still not taking blogging seriously. Some are blogging and don't monetize it well. I plan to host a 3 city blogging tour soon. Linda Ikeji's message to all of you is below. AND YES! You don't have to sleep around, sell drugs or do illegal things for money.

"Now to all the young girls looking at these photos, please read below..
My name is Linda Ikeji. I’m a blogger. I’m 35 years old and I have never…never ever in my life slept with a man for money. Not only have I never done it, I have never even considered it…and here I am with a house that cost me over half a billion naira.
Listen, you are beautiful and you are stronger than you know. There’s absolutely nothing you can’t achieve if you set your mind to it, put your heart and soul into it.Up until five years ago, I was a struggling entrepreneur. I can’t tell you how many offices in this Lagos I sat in for hours waiting to see people who could support my business…but most times, I never passed the reception area. But I never gave up and I never stopped believing and here I am today.
You too can be this..you can be better than this. No dream is too big, no dream is too small, no mountain is too high…it’s all in your mind. It’s all up to you. If you believe in you, in your God who is guiding you, then the sky is your starting point.
Please stop waiting around for a man to give to you…to put food on your table and put clothes on your back. I promise you, you can do it for yourself. Start thinking big, believe in yourself, be creative and start working. Realize that your dreams are valid…and nobody will make your dreams come true except you. Find what you are good at. Find something that you are passionate about. Work hard at it. Be consistent. Be patient. Start young. Even if you’re not young, it’s never too late!
I have been hustling since I left secondary school..started modeling before I entered university in 1998. Was running a modeling agency even while I was a student and made it a full time business after I left university. I never doubted that I would succeed one day, because I was determined. And please do not think this happened over night. I’ve been blogging since 2006…November this year will make it exactly 9 years. God, consistency and hard work brought me here today.
Unfortunately, a lot of our young girls aren’t patient and some are lazy, they want it quick and fast but it doesn’t work like that. Success takes time – takes hard work – takes passion – takes consistency – but more than anything else, it takes the Grace of God.
I was a 30 year old broke woman and on my birthday, a very sad and depressed me turned to God and begged him. I told Him you promised me, when will You fulfill Your promise? Am I not Your child? Have I not lived according to Your teachings? When will You bless me? Please God help me…and with tears in my eyes, I begged Him. I cried and I begged and I begged and I begged. A few months later my life changed. Never underestimate God’s love for you and the power of prayer.
And never stop working. Listen, I make enough money to hire so many people to work on this blog while I go do other things and enjoy myself…but I don’t do that. I’m up while some of you are sleeping, and already blogging before some of you wake up. I don’t take this for granted. I know to stay on top, I have to constantly work and nobody will be as dedicated as I am because this is not their own thing. It’s mine and I have to keep feeding it. So I’m constantly here!
Young ladies, I promise you…you too can do this. You don’t need to spread your legs for any bladdy man – because of how much? N200k? That’s how much my shoes cost – so why should you give up your body for that? Your sacred body? God’s temple? N200k that you can make in a week or even in a day if you pursue your dreams and still have your dignity intact? You think people don’t see that you’re messing around with all dem old married men and talking about it? Think ladies, think! When next a man propositions you…tell him to get lost, that you will get yours yourself! Abi, aren’t you a woman? You know what they say about women? “A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.”. You are so strong, you don’t even know!
Also, if you want God to bless you, you have to have a clean heart. All these backbiting, hating on others, trying to bring people down with hateful words/actions etc – God doesn’t like ugly. He has over 6 billion people to look after and you think he will pay extra attention to you if your heart is ugly? Wish people well, help people when you can. Be good to others. But more than anything else be good to yourself. Believe in yourself. It’s very easy to give in to feelings of self-doubt and back down when things get tough, but you have to know that God will not give you anything you can’t handle.
I swear to you, you are underestimating yourself. If you know the power that you have inside. If you know the things that you are capable of. If you know how far you can go…how high you can reach but you are holding yourself back because you’re afraid of failing, because you don’t think you have it in you. If only you know that you’re stronger than you think. You are so powerful, you don’t even know it. I’m not more special than you are. I don’t have two heads. We serve the same God. Why can’t you succeed? Think ladies, think.
Like Barack Obama’s sister said, poverty is not an excuse! I used to sell/market beer at Sheraton hotel, Lagos when I was in university for N1,000 a day. I once lived on ‘puff puff’ and garri for weeks in UNILAG and I was supposedly a top model but nobody knew what I was going through.
Trust me, I knew poverty. Did you know I lived in Idi-oro, Mushin for 15 years? Up until when I was 25? Did you live in Mushin? Eh, so what’s your excuse? I can’t even say some things here for my family’s privacy but here I am today because I never doubted myself and I never allowed all the doubters to distract me. I was focused. I was determined. I worked hard and I knew the God I served won’t let me down. The road was long, sometimes very frustrating and painful but look at me now. God did it because he saw that I was willing!

“Because I am a woman, I must make unusual efforts to succeed. If I fail, no one will say, “She doesn’t have what it takes.” They will say, “Women don’t have what it takes.”
Please believe in yourself and watch God use you to set as an example for others.
May all your dreams come true!
Kisses.
Oh by the way (addressing the argument I read online this weekend) I don’t do anything else. I blog from 4am till midnight, where do I have time to do anything else? When God wants to bless you, He will bless you…even if you’re selling toothpick.
Cheers!"

United Kingdom-based Chevening Scholarship REMOVES Diezani Alison-Madueke from Scholarship list #HNNImpact

The United Kingdom-based Chevening Scholarship has pulled down the name of embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, from its list of female achievers.

Chevening is an international scholarship scheme, which enables students with leadership qualities from 144 countries and territories, to undertake postgraduate study or courses in universities in the UK.

According to Sahara Reporters, Diezani, after receiving a Chevening scholarship in 2002, attended Cambridge University for her MBA and then returned to Nigeria where she became the first female Executive Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company.

After emerging as the first woman to hold the position of Minister of Petroleum Resources in Nigeria and the first female President of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Chevening on its website, listed her as one of its best female alumni in commemoration of the March 8 International Women’s Day.

The report says Diezani was listed among other international and accomplished women like the Vice President, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Wang li; a former Minister for Social Development in Jordan, Hala Bsaisu Lattouf; and a Deputy Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Hertzegovina, Denisa Sarajlic-Maglic.

After recognising Diezani as one of its best alumni, Chevening had stated on its website that “We are proud of all our alumni who carry Chevening values with them through their careers, and on this day, we take special delight in recognising and applauding just some of the many women associated with Chevening across the world who work tirelessly to bring about positive change.

“We hope that the trail they are blazing will empower the next generation of young female leaders to ‘make it happen’ on an even bigger scale in the years to come.”

However, following Diezani’s recent arrest by the UK’s National Crime Agency along with five other people on allegation of bribery and corruption offences, Chevening delisted her name from its website but retained the names of its other ‘celebrated women.’

Finding by the news medium on Thursday showed that Diezani’s name had indeed been pulled down from their website.

Chicago station apologizes for using #Nazi image in Yom Kippur story #HNNImpact

A screenshot of the TV news broadcast.

A Chicago news station used a graphic of a yellow badge, like those the Nazis forced Jews to wear during the Holocaust, to illustrate its report on the start of Yom Kippur.

WGN-TV aired the report on Tuesday night, hours into the Jewish Day of Atonement. The badge — shaped like the Star of David and featuring the word “Jude,” German for “Jew” — appeared atop concentration-camp-uniform stripes, and above the caption “Yom Kippur.”

Viewers quickly responded on social media.

WGN sought atonement for the graphic on Wednesday. The anchor who delivered the the Yom Kippur report said on air:

“Major correction tonight: We couldn’t see this from the set here, but in our story about Yom Kippur we apparently used a symbol that is extremely offensive to the Jewish community. We mistakenly showed a symbol used by Nazi Germany to identify Jews. We deeply apologize for that error.”

The station also apologized on Twitter, and at length on its website.

To our WGN News Viewers,

"Last night we ran a story to recognize Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement. The artwork chosen to accompany the story came from a graphics image bank.

Regrettably, we failed to recognize that the image was an offensive Nazi symbol.
We are extremely embarrassed and we deeply apologize to our viewers and to the Jewish community for this mistake.

Ignorance is not an excuse.

Please know we are reviewing our in house policies and changes have already been made to make sure a hurtful oversight like this never happens again.

Thank you for your understanding. We promise to do better."

Abdullah Kurdi says he doesn't understand why Canada rejected his application for asylum, "even though there were five families who were willing" to support the family. Citizenship and Immigration Canada, however, says it received no refugee application from Kurdi, and Tima Kurdi, his sister in Coquitlam, B.C., says she hasn't made one.

@RichmondPolice Officer DONATES bike to 9-year-old boy after someone stole his at knifepoint #HNNImpact

And everyone hates cops left and right these days in America. Here's a cop that did the best thing ever and we are watching in Africa. Some people never talk about the good deeds of the American cops, just bash them left and right or just shoot and kill officers. Richmond, VA police is one I'm familiar with via social media where I made friends with some of the officers and see what they do in communities. They have a strong community policing system over there.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Weeks after a stranger stole his bicycle at knifepoint, nine-year-old Mekhi Moore is on the road again thanks to the generosity of Richmond Police. It was early August when a teenager Moore did not know approached the child near his home off Hull Street Road in South Richmond.

"He said 'get off the bike.' He said 'get off the bike' again and then after he pulled the knife out," Moore recalled. "I was scared and sad. He was mean."

Moore got off the bike he loved and rode every day and ran home where someone called police.

"In this particular case, a young boy was on his bicycle and was robbed of his bicycle by somebody he didn't know," Richmond Detective Derrick Longoria said.

Police took the report, but told Moore the truth about his stolen bike.

"He said, we might find the bike and we might not find the bike, but we will be on the look out," Mekhi's great-grandfather Robert Moore said.

A few weeks passed and Moore's bike was never recovered. That is when police took action. One Richmond Police officer donated an older bike. Other officers gave money to have it fixed up for Moore.

Neighbors were outside when Richmond Police returned to the Southside neighborhood with a surprise for the child.

"He took him around the side of the car, when he propped it open, pulled that bike out, the kid just looked at him, it was, it brought enjoyment to me," neighbor Fred Neiss said.

"When we took the bike out of the trunk, it was like Christmas morning," Detective Longoria said. "He hopped on it, he said 'thank you,' and he was gone." Police hope the surprise has a lasting impact on Mekhi Moore.

"They're very nice and they're kind," Moore said. "They will help you in horrible situations."

"You're sensitive and amazing to all these new people in your life, you're just not so sensitive and amazing to the family that you left behind," Kris tells the former Olympian.

"When you feel like you gave your whole life to somebody, and the sum of it all was you were a distraction..." she continues with tears coming down her face.

#VIRAL Nigerians FIGHT on my page saying GEJ supporters are more educated than Buhari Illiterates #HNNImpact

Nigeria has two classes of voters. the elite voters who vote for the educated candidate and the non elites who vote for the other candidate who has a tough time with the language called English. Clearly President Buhari's supporters are more street urchins and illiterates while former President Jonathan's are more educated. the status went viral and people fought tooth and nail and even cursed me out in my latest monetized Facebook post.

Buhari Supporters are mostly Illiterates while Jonathan supporters are educated and well learned. This is a fact that is in DENIAL.

  • Kola Akindele To me educated illiterates are those who were schooled but lack all the disciplines of what education teach against for example, polygamy, bigotry, racism, sexism, tribalism, bearing too many children, wickedness, greed, corruption, get rich by all means necessary, spouse abuse, materialism, wickedness, hatred, UnGodfearing, evil, etc

KJ LAUNCHES HIS FIRST RAP SONG "MY MOM'S A SNITCH"

A bunch of 8-year-old girls were watching this earlier and had the hots for ma baby. He wrote it all. I just put the video together for him. JStaffz produced the track. It's a first. KJ wrote this song based on my work with families of crime victims hosting FREE news conferences for them.

We need to snitch the right way. So many young men are murdered in Toronto and cases not solved!! You can find this video on Toronto Police's TAVIS FB page. Good job KJ. You can download the song at our Reverbnation store.
