Let's face it, the baby in there is not just one Sri Lankan/black/white baby. It's Edgar Bronfman's great grandson. MIA posted this on her MySpace blog. The unnamed baby was born on Wednesday (local time). He is "healthy, fine, beautiful and the most amazing thing ever on this planet," according to her MySpace posting. The baby's father is musician Benjamin Brewer, son of Edgar Bronfman, chairman and CEO of Warner Music Group and great grandpa is the heir to the Seagrams fortune.
According to Sandra Rose, with all the hype and alleged racism of Edgar Sr not wanting his son marrying a black woman, Edgar Bronfman Jr went ahead and married a black lady, Sherry Brewer and I think they had a total of three kids with Benjamin who uses his mom's name being the oldest. Edgar Sr wrote in his memoir....
“I very much wanted for him to end the relationship, because I told him, all marriages are difficult enough without the added stress of totally different backgrounds. Sherry offered to convert [to Judaism], which though well intentioned, was not the point.”MIA, 31, whose real name is Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, was born in Britain but raised in Sri Lanka, where her father agitated for an independent Tamil state. She achieved fame with her second album Kala, a cross-cultural mishmash of beats, slogans and lyrical drama.
Her ubiquitous single Paper Plane, which incorporates elements of an obscure Clash track, received a Grammy nomination for record of the year. She got the co-Grammy for that annoying song "Swagger like us."
Better not let the Anna Nicole curse happen here. These babies are heirs to everything in these families!
