After the lackluster fall 2009 season of “Dancing With the Stars,” which was overstuffed with 16 celebrities and pseudo-celebrities, ABC went back to the drawing board and came up with a trimmed-down list of 11 for spring 2010.And they have a few actual stars in their midst. Vixen and “Baywatch” vet Pamela Anderson (left) is as close to A List as DWTS has gotten, though in more of a wink-and-nod way. Kate Gosselin is tabloid catnip and will be closely watched. Bad girl actress Shannen Doherty is not exactly A list but far more interesting than, say, “90210″ alum Ian Ziering. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who was one of the first people on the moon, is a genuine legend and a great pickup as the token “old
ESPN correspondent Erin Andrews, who was recently a victim of a stalker and deeply traumatized by leaked nude photos of her taken by said stalker, is our biggest Atlanta connection. I’m not sure if she still lives here.
Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger adds a bit of faux glitz and certainly has dancing experience.
Two athletes are included: Evan Lysacek, gold-medal winning figure skater, and NFL player Chad Ochocinco. I don’t follow football but reports say he’s quite a character. There’s also a hottie soap star I’ve never heard of Aiden Turner.
And ABC added more eye candy while mining an obvious synergistic tie-in: Jake Pavelka, the recent “Bachelor” and studly pilot.
Actress Niecy Nash, who hosts Style’s “Clean House” and is part of Comedy Central’s “Reno 911!” rounds out the cast.
