Released in December 2014, Game Changer the album debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart, No. 4 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart as well as released three Top Ten singles “Behind Closed Doors,” “Game Changer,” and previously mentioned “This One’s For Me & You.” The album received reviews from outlets like Allmusic.com calling the music “Mature contemporary sounds, sophisticated disco-funk, and Hi-like southern soul are handled with equal finesse,” while Amazon and iTunes adds respectively “…the timeless Johnny Gill has returned to reclaim his position atop the music charts and to serve as a reminder that undeniable talent gets better with time,” and “Johnny Gill continues to deliver enthralling R&B that feels like a slow dance with an old flame.”
Gill, who is celebrating his 31st year in R&B music, has garnered an impressive catalog of music as a solo artist as well as with groups like New Edition and L.S.G. that includes songs like “My, My, My,” “Can You Stand The Rain,” and “My Body,” all of which have charted at No. 1 on the US R&B Charts and garnered Grammy nominations.
