The Illiteracy KILLING #Nigerians. An average Nigerian CAN'T read OR write! #HNNEducation
I wrote an article about blogger Linda Ikeji regarding how I despised her for years, a troll tweeted me stating Linda has never mentioned my name nor tweeted at me. . Never ever? This is what you get when people don't click the article and read it. They simply are illiterates and cannot read or write. Nigerians say I'm insulting them when I call them this. Well then learn to READ!

It's important to proof read your work as a blogger or Journalist. Some Nigerian bloggers are quite bad at that. Well Linda Ikeji is no exception. The sad part is that her illiterate fans didn't think SHE MADE a mistake. They really thought it was the CBN official. ATM cards not CARS Linda. One of my posts will have a typo in the headline today and the first person to notice it and email me via FB or hnnafricanews#Live.com gets $100USD. Lets see. Deadline 9pm--KOO

According to the course description, the class will culminate in a final project in which students will share their personal brand on either Facebook Live, YouTube or local television. Grading criteria have not been revealed, but we're hoping there's extra credit for an on-point smize.

The Prime Minister is reportedly preparing her new government to crack down on higher education institutions, claiming they have become an easy route into Britain for economic migrants.
Government sources have said the Home Office and Department for Education will examine the student visa regime to see where criteria can be tightened, according to The Telegraph. As Home Secretary, Ms May attempted to limit the number of visas for students coming to study on further education courses.
In a confidential letter to other ministers, she also argued universities should "develop sustainable funding models that are not so dependent on international students".
But she could have wrongly deported up to 50,000 international students after an English test cheating scam at one school was used to incriminate all who had sat the test.

Zahra and Yusuf Buhari graduated today from a UK University #HNNeducation
President Buhari's children Zahr and Yusuf both graduated today from the University of Surrey in the UK. Their mom Aisha Buhari and sisters were also present to celebrate with them. No word on their majors. Some Nigerians have been furious to see the leader's kids schooling abroad and paying outrageous amount of school fees while education in Nigeria has no direction.

20 years ago today, I became a PR degree holder and Publicist June 8th 1996 #HNNEducation
20 years ago today June 8th 1996, I bagged a degree in Public Relations Management from the renowned Goucher College School of PR in Maryland, USA. That made it my THIRD degree. Many of you have one. Never stop learning. I have done PR and music publicity for several music artists in their humble beginnings and on their traveling concerts hooking them up in press conferences, booking them on MTV USA and Canada as well as BET and VH1 and many music magazines around the world. Today I still practice PR globally for companies, brands, celebrities but mostly based abroad as they need me. Some of my famous clients at one point include Drake, Nicki Minaj, BoB, D'ija, Sean Kingston, Ciara, Akon, Tim Campbell, Kim Davis, Tupac Shakur (died the same year #RIP) and more. I make my clients famous. Many Nigerian artists approach me and cannot afford my fees, some ask me to represent them for free. I laugh so hard. I don't work for free cos you are Nigerian. I once booked WizKid and Skales on MTV Canada in 2012 and cancelled on a half fee cos his fraudulent then manager Osagie who just screwed up Skales at Baseline spited him and kept it away from Wiz that he had such a massive appearance. Wiz was getting ready to leave her mgt. Karma catches up with ppl. My biggest challenge with PR is working alongside celebrity management. They never listen to advice. Being a Journalist gave me an edge on being a Publicist. PR ppl work directly with media. I had all my media contacts.

Havard University is ready for Stephen Spielberg's address today #HNNEducation
Filmmaker Steven Spielberg is scheduled to deliver the commencement speech at Harvard University.
The three-time Academy Award winner will address graduates at a ceremony Thursday afternoon.
Harvard President Drew Faust has praised Spielberg as an extraordinary storyteller, adding that “through his art, Mr. Spielberg has challenged us to dream and to see the world anew.”
Spielberg has won Oscars for best picture and best director for “Schindler’s List,” and best director for “Saving Private Ryan.” One of his earliest hits, “Jaws,” was filmed primarily on the Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard.
He earned a degree from California State University, Long Beach, in 2002, after dropping out from the school in the 1960s.
Harvard officials say Spielberg is not being paid for his appearance.

Former Minister for Defence (State) Musiliu Obanikoro graduates with history degree in the USA #HNNEducation
Can't seem to decipher this one but the former Minister for Defence for State in Nigeria has been out of the country for a year and now word says he just graduated with a Bachelors in History from the Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Meanwhile the rumour was that he fled Nigeria in order to avoid questions in the Dasuki arms deal. That degree is not a year duration. He must have been taken classes as they say in Nigeria "small by small."

The Olunloyo women remain the smartest in Nigeria. Beauty and Brains. Get ready as we celebrate our ancestor Yejide Olunloyo the first girl to go to school in Ibadan, Nigeria. Yejide Girls Grammar school is named after her and the school Mrs Folake Solanke, Nigerian First Ladies Agagu, Fashola, Olunloyo (My Mom), My aunt Late Mrs Peju Art Alade (Darey's mom) and many other prominent Nigerian women.
The school turns 60 this year. Anna Hindrerer. The first two children they received into their home were given them by a young war chief, Olunloyo. He committed his six year old daughter and four year old son, Yejide and Akinyele respectively, to the couple. Yejide insisted on returning home at the end of the first day with the missionaries and persuaded her younger brother to follow her back home, because she had been told that white people eat human beings at night. Akinyele, at first, followed her counsel but soon returned to the mission house while her sister passed the night with her parents. Yejide was only convinced of her safety with the missionary couple when she returned the following day and found her brother alive and well.
It is not certain why Olunloyo gave his children to these strangers in town, about whom many were still uncertain. It may not be possible to ascertain his motive, since he did not live long enough to commit himself to Christianity. However, he was deeply committed to the well being of the missionaries and did all that was within his capacity to see them fully settled in the town. He appears like one of those drawing close to the light of the gospel by degrees when death took him away in the battlefield while the couple was away to England between 1856 and 1857. He only had a foretaste of what conversion could mean when Akielle refused to participate in one of the family's traditional sacrifices after taking residence with the Hinderers. His quiet acquiescence in the face of his son's vehement refusal is the only evidence that a longer acquaintanceship with the mission might have led him in the way of the new faith. However this relationship is understood, Christian tradition in Ibadan today rightly recognizes his children, Yejide and Akinyele, as the first converts to Christianity in Ibadan as well as the first children to go to school.

Why I call Nigerians #ILLITERATES. UNESCO confirms 65 Million Nigerians are #HNNEducation
It's not even about going to school or getting a degree. With 65 million Nigerians illiterate, it is time for government, schools and individuals to take action. UNESCO’s National Programme Advisor on Education, Dr Mohammed Alkali recently revealed the results of a UNESCO survey that showed that despite improvements to the country’s education system, 65 million Nigerians remain illiterate.
This statistic is alarming for a number of reasons. Illiteracy has adverse impacts at both an individual and societal level. People who are illiterate are far more likely to live in poverty, facing a lifetime marred by poor health and social vulnerability. Economically, the impacts of illiteracy are also sizeable; workplace productivity, unemployment rates and even national GDP are all affected by a country’s literacy levels.
With Nigeria’s illiteracy rate standing at just over 50 percent, it is a matter of national urgency that we work to redress our literacy crisis. How can make real changes that have a measureable and tangible impact on Nigerian learners?

Spot the unacceptable QUESTION in this kid's homework #HNNEducation
A British school has apologised after asking six-year-old kids to 'handwrite what p***es you off' in a homework assignment.
Bishop King Primary School in Lincoln sent an entire class of children home with the expletive buried in a list of questions about their favourite things.
Parents Jay McCulley and Jade Dixon couldn't believe their eyes when their son, Mason, returned home with the exercise sheet.
The school has admitted the homework is genuine and apologised unreservedly to parents in a letter.

Lamar Hawkins III, of Sanford, killed himself Sept. 10, 2014 with his father's gun in a bathroom stall at Greenwood Lakes Middle School in Lake Mary.
Attorney Matt Morgan said Lamar went missing for hours and school officials didn't look for him— even after another student found a spent gun shell casing in the school's bathroom and reported it to a teacher.
Lamar's family reported him missing after his mother went to the school to pick him up about 5 p.m. and he was nowhere to be found. Deputies found Lamar in the bathroom with a gunshot wound to his head about 11 p.m.
Lamar's family is suing the Seminole County School Board, alleging negligent supervision, negligent failure to adequately discipline bullies and negligent failure to supervise and account for Lamar's absence before his death.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala celebrates son's book which has been adapted into an award winning movie #HNNeducation
Former Nigerian Minister for Finance Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was estatic when she tweeted this morning congratulating her son Uzodinma on his book which was adapted into an award winning movie. The book is titled Beasts of No Nation.
Uzodinma Iweala is an author, sociologist and physician who hails from Nigeria. His debut novel, Beasts of No Nation, is a formation of his thesis work at Harvard. It depicts a child soldier in an unnamed African country. The book, published in 2005, has received considerable critical acclaim from sources like Time Magazine, The New York Times,Entertainment Weekly, The Times, and Rolling Stone.
Iweala attended St. Albans School in Washington D.C. and also attended Harvard College atHarvard University earning an A.B., magna cum laude, in English and American Literature and Language in 2004. While at Harvard, Iweala earned the Hoopes Prize and Dorothy Hicks Lee Prize for Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis, 2004; Eager Prize for Best Undergraduate Short Story, 2003; and the Horman Prize for Excellence in Creative Writing, 2003. He is a graduate ofColumbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, class of 2011. He is currently a fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.
He won the New York Public Library's 2006 Young Lions Fiction Award. In 2007, he was named as one of Granta magazine's 20 best young American novelists.

OPINION: Why #Yorubas in #Nigeria are the least educated about #SocialMedia
FACT: Yorubas in Nigeria are the most illiterate on #socialmedia. My tribe is not completely educated to start with. it is a shame the British brought the first University here and today simple instructions cannot be followed. The Igbos are the smartest in Nigeria regarding education. The Hausas cannot even pronounce basic words. Channel your energy to learning English. It is the language the people who gave us independence spoke. Im so sick of meeting Yoruba youth asking me to help them get a job. 90% cannot read or write properly. Speaking is a ZERO.
