MUCHMUSIC ANNOUNCES 16 FINALISTS FOR VJ SEARCH.

Toronto, ON (October 13, 2009) – And then there were 16. After nearly 4000 VJ wannabes applied, only the hottest and coolest were left standing as MuchMusic announced the remaining candidates for the sickest job in the country. Applicants from across Canada battled it out on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter®, and MySpace™. Fans all over the country connected with applicants at muchmusic.com giving 16 potential VJs the chance to become a Canadian icon. The Top 16 represent 13 cities from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and Prince Edward Island. But for MuchMusic fans, the competition is about to heat up even more. Fans can hit up muchmusic.com until Oct. 25 to support and interact with their favorite VJ hopefuls. Then it’s adios to half the VJ candidates as the Top 16 is narrowed down to eight semi-finalists on Monday, Oct. 26.

“MuchMusic VJ 2.0 received so many unbelievable applications from all across Canada and our fans were front and centre narrowing the search with their feedback,” said Brad Schwartz, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Much MTV Group, CTV Inc. “These Top 16 represent our fans across the country and embody what we’re looking for in our newest VJ: knowledge of music, pop-culture and Canadian youth. Now, it’s time for fans to get interactive at muchmusic.com to help us decide which candidates get a chance at this incredible dream job.”

The Top 16 were selected from almost 4000 applications based on fan views, ratings and feedback, along with the applicants photo, video audition, social links, and written submission. The Top 16 can be viewed and supported online at muchmusic.com:
