Air Algerie said it lost contact with one of its aircraft nearly an hour after takeoff from #BurkinaFaso on Thursday bound for Algiers.

"Air navigation services have lost contact with an #AirAlgerie plane Thursday flying from Ouagadougou to #Algiers, 50 minutes after takeoff," the airline said, cited by national news agency APS.

These planes are way too big to be vanishing daily. With the Ukranians shooting up the skies by the second. Now I hear this flight may have it's own defense mechanism. BUT!! these morons could still think that it's a spy plane. However, a senior French official told #HNNAfrica it was unlikely that fighters in Mali had weaponry that could shoot down a plane. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak for attribution, said the fights have shoulder-fired weapons which could not hit an aircraft at cruising altitude.
