Crown appeals stabbing release
Four weeks ago yesterday, a jury returned its verdict against Melissa Lewis who admitted she fatally stabbed Jermaine Gillespie on May 29, 2010.The jury reached its decision after 13 hours of deliberations.The prosecution is appealing the decision, citing six legal errors by trial judge, Justice Robert Clark. It will ask the Court of Appeal to quash the acquittal and order a new trial for Lewis.
