Chicago police officers stand and salute as an ambulance carrying the body of one of their own passes by.

The officer’s name has not been released, but officials said the 42-year-old was headed home from work when the car he was driving was struck.

The off-duty officer was killed in the crash. He was still dressed in his Chicago police uniform.
