Others are: Barefootlaw, Uganda – Facebook Page of the Year, The Love Tour, Kenya – Influencer of the Year, Republic of Rwanda Ministry of Youth and ICT Rwanda, Best Use by Government/Public Sector, DHL Africa – Best Use by Private Sector, Stand to End Rape, Nigeria – Best Use by Non-Profit. Winners of the award were rewarded with the one-of-a-kind #SMAA plaque, $1,000 USD prize money, all-expense-paid trip to Nairobi for training with the Africa Media Initiative (AMI) amongst other opportunities and benefits.
One of the finalists who was conspicuously absent is currently serving a 1-year sentence for a Facebook post adjudged to be defamatory, Tunisian Blogger and Activist, Yassine Ayari emerged The #SMAA Social Media Personality of the Year at the just concluded awards ceremony tagged, Night of Virtual Wonders; which held in Lagos, Nigeria last weekend.

One of Ayari’s friends contacted the #SMAA Secretariat and Convening team in an email dated December 26, 2014 to formally notify the conveners of Yassine’s inability attend the awards ceremony due to his trial. Ayari was first sentenced to 3-years in prison albeit in absentia, for criticizing the Tunisian Defence Minister through a Facebook Post. His lawyers appealed the judgment but Ayari was later sentenced to a year in prison by a superior court of law.
The #SMAA Conveners, Development Diaries Ltd/GTE; condemn in strongest terms the actions of the Tunisian Government and re-affirm that the Right to Free Speech is a fundamental Human Right which must not be suppressed or stifled.

I did NOT win my category but will use my nomination to work forward with my numerous social media projects. I was the only nominee from Nigeria and the only woman in that category. Stay tuned!

I have several endorsements for blogging and social media. One of the sweetest thing about LinkedIn is that a major news outlet used it to locate me to offer me a great contracted assignment. #SMAA2014 Kemi Olunloyo Influencing #Africa on #Twitter>>VOTE NOW @SMA_Africa #HNNAfrica

Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called "tweets". It is in real time as compared to Facebook, you have less people inboxing you if you are not following them. I only follow my clients, sponsors and media partners. I strictly WORK on twitter and my accounts are all heavily monetized. One reason I have not been able to follow many Nigerians is due to my boycott of the anti-gay law.

Many Nigerians are homophobic and do not realize that HATE is a serious problem in the world. I grew up 37 years in US/UK/Canada and lived among gays who I view simply as the same as us. I refuse ti follow anyone due to hate. I will NOT follow HATE! It is hate that has caused the problem of Boko Haram and vigilante justice in Nigeria. I charge $40-$200 a tweet whereby a $40 tweet is coming from an advert and a $100-200 dollar tweet is tweeting a live award show or reality show on TV.

The least I could so for Nigerians in 2013 was to teach the whole country Twitter monetization FREE. The rest is up to them. Search those tweets at #140NG and myNigerian Tribune article is below

Need a Twitter page built or a Twitter ad? Just contact me at HNNAfricanews@yahoo.com. I started this trend in Canada with music artists by my popular 3 tweets for $100 deal.

#SMAA2014 Kemi Olunloyo Influencing #Africa on #Facebook>>VOTE NOW @SMA_Africa #HNNAfrica

The single most entrepreneurial page on social media for most businesses is Facebook. As the FIRST NIGERIAN on Facebook, I tested the social network on BETA at Harvard University in 2004. I was recruited by Andy McColumn who emailed me about my 100,000 MySpace friends. I make friends a lot online and there were hardly any Nigerians online then. I sell posts on Facebook for companies, business or post statuses to get strong feedback from Nigerians. I then blog the comments for money. Facebook is a gold mine...PERIOD. The biggest misconception about Facebook is that its full of dangerous ppl and scammers.

Everyone, companies, brands, politicians and celebrities are all using it. My page has an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 and the descriptions are listed as I have 3 US degrees. Also my post reach doubles my likes meaning that more ppl stop by here even if they haven't liked the page. Haters>>they are fans in disguise!! Many of them here. Every business needs a Facebook page. My posts start at N80,000. E-mail me for page building rates.

The Snitchladyradioshow was my old talkshow in Canada and the domain will soon be removed by Google so that it can just say HNNAfrica. I monetize mine so well especially the blogs and YouTube videos. the innovative hashtags help you search for all the info you need. My favourites are #HNNFood #HNNHealth and #HNNTerror

@sma_africa I CREATED the @PoliceNG FANS page for a better relationship with COPS "INFLUENCER OF THE YEAR" #SMAA2014 #SMKemi

My name is Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo. My grandfather was one of Nigeria's Inspectors of Police appointed by Queen Elizabeth.

I created this page to foster dialogue between Nigerians on how Nigerian Police can match standards of developed countries. As a Community Police Liason member in the Toronto Police Service 12 Division in Canada 2007-2012, I brought entire communities together to foster a good relationship with the police. We need a lot of things in Nigeria. We are FAR away from what US and Canada has. We have no emergency monitoring system meaning no 911 or 999, no aerial or water monitoring, no squad and patrol CARS, just annoying intimidating hilux pick up trucks with no computer dashboards, no computers in the police stations, no glock guns, instead our cops carry dangerous AK47's. We need brand new state of the art police stations as well as City and State police. Issues of police negligence, police brutality and police bribes are also rampant. There are always bad and good cops everywhere.

WE ARE A RICH OIL COUNTRY AND MUST WORK TOGETHER TO HAVE ENOUGH SECURITY IN NIGERIA. AT LEAST 40 COPS DIE WEEKLY IN NIGERIA IN ARMED ROBBERIES AT BANKS AND TERRORISM SITUATIONS WITH BOKO HARAM. LETS WORK TOGETHER.

I AM ADVOCATING FOR A BETTER NIGERIAN POLICE.

I created Facebook.com/support Nigerian Police and Twitter @CopGossip to educate Nigerians where we are and where we could be. My pages are LIKED by the NPF itself. I am a big police supporter. It's in the blood but I want to spread that blood into other Nigerians.

I spoke to Chloe on "BBC World have Your Say" that the big divide in the war of terror is communication with police. they do not like the POLICE, there are people who know the bomb makers and the transportation modes to the targets but no one's snitching. If you have people communicating well with police we would have a better and safer country and social media is the way I influence people. Everyone has a device in Nigeria and can be in touch all the time. Listen below.
