D'BANJ SIGNS A DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH SONY MUSIC AFRICA.

MY IDEA OF ARTIST DEVELOPMENT LIES IN THE ARTIST LOOKING FOR HIS OR HER OWN WAY IN THIS VERY COMPETITIVE MUSIC BUSINESS.

Congratulations to D'Banj who I met at the beginning and now has found his own way as a Sony Music artist. His recording deal was announced on Twitter Wednesday by Sony Music Africa. Not only him but his artist brother Kay Switch too. They have both done good.

This year has been a good year for D’banj. At 2012 World Music awards, his popular Oliver Twist video was nominated for Best Music Video, Best African Act, Best World Artist and Best Song Of The Year categories.

Also his EMA, Channel O and MTV Base wins have made an impact on his career. Now I'm impressed. I don't wanna see to much attachments to international artists. He is International. Now with a smooth distribution deal with Sony is impressive. Sony Execs said below:

We’ve always admired his talent and to be able to assist with bringing D’Banj’s music to millions of fans, established and new, across the continent is an honour for us’, says Managing Director of Sony Music Entertainment Sean Watson.  

‘It’s a new era for Africa, the birthplace of music and I’m excited about this very powerful partnership with Sony Music through which we will give birth together to a new era with endless opportunities for my fans, producers, artists and the start of a new time for a revolution in music from Africa. Nothing is impossible’, D’Banj says.

‘We are really excited to be partnering up with DBanj and his DB Records label. The recent launch of iTunes in Africa means that Nigerian fans and those elsewhere on the continent will now readily be able to access this amazing music as soon as it comes to market’, Spiro Damaskinos, Director of RCA Records Africa.

D'Banj released a new song as well called  "Top Of The World", dare we dispute that, cos he is on top now. He sure stepped up his game!
