CAKETIME: HAPPY BIRTHDAY FLO RIDA!

Tramar Dillard (born December 16, 1979), better known by his stage name Flo Rida, is an American rapper. As a teenager, he toured with local rap group 2 Live Crew. Later, he appeared in numerous popular rap mixtapes, most notably in We the Best by DJ Khaled in 2006, when he was signed to the Poe Boy Entertainment label, distributed by Atlantic Records. Mail on Sunday was Flo Rida's solo debut album; its lead single "Low" was a number-one hit for ten weeks in early 2008.

Flo Rida received worldwide acclaim and popularity due to the chart-topping success of his first single, "Low", featuring T-Pain. It was his first official single from his debut album Mail On Sunday and the soundtrack to the movie Step Up 2 The Streets. "Low" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Elevator", featuring Timbaland, "In the Ayer" featuring will.i.am, and "Roll" featuring Sean Kingston followed and all charted on the Hot 100 and other charts. He also collaborated with many other well-known artists in the hip-hop industry, such as Rick Ross, Birdman, Lil' Wayne, Trey Songz, Yung Joc, Trina, Brisco, and Akon.

After the success of Mail on Sunday, Flo Rida made guest performances on other R&B and pop singles, including "We Break the Dawn" by Michelle Williams, the remix of "4 Minutes" by Madonna and "Running Back" by rising R&B star Jessica Mauboy. During the summer of 2008, he did live performances on the Fox dance competition program So You Think You Can Dance in the US and 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards in Canada. Watch the pressroom video of that award show in Toronto below. I asked him a question as well.

Flo also performed at the first ever MTV Africa awards in my country of Nigeria last month, November 2008 (above) as well as the MTV Japan awards in October 2008 (below.) MTV really loves him!!

I also made history by being the first ever reporter to interview him in Canada on June 9th 2008, a week before his first trip here to the June 15th Much Music Video Awards. It was Flo's first visit to Canada. We finally met as you can see above. FYI, KJ the Kid Reporter was the first kid in the world to interview him as well in that very same phone interview. Special thanks again to Atlantic Records' David Miller. Below is that phone interview.
