YAWN: SUPERGRASS QUIT RECORD LABEL.

British rockers SUPERGRASS have left their record label of 12 years and appointed bassist MICKEY QUINN managing director of the band. The trio has walked away from their deal with EMI-owned Parlophone records, which has been their home since their 1994 debut track Caught By The Fuzz. They will now release all of their future music through their own company Supergrass Records, in a bid to give them more control over their careers.

Quinn, who will take over administrative duties for the band, tells NME.com, "When you're footing the bill you pull your horns in. In a lot of ways that makes you more creative." The All right hitmakers are the latest in a long line to walk away from EMI, with acts including Sir Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Radiohead all leaving after the company was taken over by private equity group Terra Firma in 2007.
