A child seated in the back of car videotapes a cop smashing out the car window then Tasing the passenger for not providing i.d. The passenger has now filed a federal lawsuit. This video pretty much portrays the violent nature of some officers.
Officers are accused of 'malice' and 'reckless indifference' after their actions were recorded on cell phone camera during traffic stop on September 24th.
Lisa Mahone and her boyfriend, Jamal Jones were pulled over because the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The couple said they were on their way to visit Lisa's dying mother.
A child in the backseat then started recording video after what happened next.
Officers are heard demanding identification from Jones and telling him to get out of the car. He said he was scared for his life, so he refused. The video shows officers shattering the passenger side window of the car and using a stun gun on Jones.
Officers allegedly took action when Jones ignored their orders.
Hammond police issues a response to the lawsuit stating the passenger repeatedly refused orders to produce identification and exit the vehicle.
The department says the officers 'were at all times acting in the interest of officer safety and in accordance with Indiana law.' I'm speechless. Thank GOD we have cameras everywhere on devices these days.
