A Times analysis of California measles immunization levels found that preschools in affluent areas like the Westside, southern Orange County, the South Bay and parts of the Bay Area tended to have lower vaccination rates.
In Santa Monica, roughly 30 out of 45 child-care centers had a measles vaccination rate of 92% or below, which officials say heightens the risk of an outbreak. All four child-care centers in Malibu that filed data to the state were below that rate as well.
