#TalkbackHNN: #Nigerians don't feel the need for an OFFICE OF THE FIRST LADY on a State Level.

#TalkbackHNN: My mother was once a First lady in 1983, 30 years ago. there was NO office of the First lady in any state. She went to charitable functions, visited hospitals, orphanages and opened a section of a hospital and more. Today it's become a big business. Should First Ladies be on the government payroll or just do their work in a charitable manner without the necessary staff? I live in front of Mrs Ajimobi's office in Agodi and she runs a great staff over there with a budget and event scheduling. Cars in and out and lots of functions. What is your opinion of State First Ladies and how much it's costing the state.

Well used or not necessary?

Anofi Anoti Bola its all an avenue to embezzle, every 1st lady cms up wit her ow project and it gets abandoned and unfunded afta her husband leaves the sit...A governor already has a deputy, what does he need a 1st lady"s office for again?

Maurice Ukandu It's not necessary... They're drainage pipes to siphon and fritter away State resources... In civilized climes, there's no such rubbish. It's unconstitutional!

Ajani Oluyomibo Ademola To me it should be scapped as they are just creating unnecessary port folios to enrich themwelves. If she wants to do anything,it shoud be base on NGO or charitable organisation not like carrying convoy around and spent Government money lavishly.

AbdualAzizu Abna Salihu In Mama's days, she was more humane than what we have today.

If you ask her to make a survey and pick one that may be like her, I wonder if she is gonna get one that people will not accuse her of being bribed, you know!

It has been so bastardised that, everyone wants her husband to try all possible to get there.

The beneficiaries of her humbleness and humility can only say to others what happened as, she never sought publicity, then.

We have not been able to define the kind of governance we are bestrodden with.

Peace.

Oluwabunmi Olabisi Akinlotan If no one can inherit or claim their parent academic credentials as part of their inheritance or achievements then no president or governor should create an office or put his wife on goverment pay roll. They are different individuals.

Akinbode Okunola Office of the First Lady is conventional but it has come to stay. It does not need a bill or motion anymore. What baffles me is that Mr. Governor said during his campaign that his wife had always been house wife and that she will have no biz in govt. But today, the reality is that Madam is the de facto Governor

David Ogunkoya I think that 'office of the first lady' should be scrapped from the national to Local Govts levels b'cos it's unconstitutional. Unfortunately, the human rights lawyers and the Press have not seen any thing in it. May be they just 'look the other way.'

Abodunde Jumoke First Lady office may be useful only if the women get responsible with it. Most Women are more interested being in the Public eye. The impact of a woman in the society is stronger.

Manuel Ladun 1983 dat is 30years ago, Nigeria was a well governed nation then. The first lady sydrome started with Babagida and sincerely it cant be stop again, bcos the wives are involved the election campaign of their husbands. To me it is nt a waste inasmuch as it is use to help the governance of the husband (Governor).
